STORAGE AND FLOW OF BULK MATERIALS
This workshop will focus on the issues associated with the storage, feeding and flow of cohesive bulk solids (such as, iron ore, coal etc) and the flow problem that result from the internal strength developed within the bulk solid. This results in poor flowability and "hang-up" or blockages which obstruct flow in storage vessels (hoppers and silos) and flow channels in chutes and feeders. This workshop will explain how the flow properties of a bulk solid can be measured and how these measurements can be used to reliably design hoppers and silos.Mass flow and funnel flow will be explained and the advantages and disadvantages of each flow regime will be discussed.

PNEUMATIC CONVEYING OF BULK MATERIALS
This workshop will provide an introduction and overview of the major issues involved in the specification, design, operation and troubleshooting of a wide range of pneumatic conveying systems. The workshop will cover the major modes of pneumatic conveying (dilute and dense phase) as well as the types of systems commonly used in industry. The workshop will also cover the determination of conveying characteristics for a given bulk material and explain how these characteristics can be scaled for a range of systems. The workshop will conclude by outlining the most commonly encountered operational problems and outline strategies to minimise these effects.
